Julie Virgin was born on an early Christmas morning a few years back and was raised in a house in the woods of central Maine. Looking for more than the meaning that was initially presented to her, she left home as a teenager and began traveling, first with AFS and then with Global College, LIU. Over a period of five years she has since studied the human race and its particularities in over ten countries including Switzerland, Ecuador, Turkey, India, and Taiwan. Faced with the vast differences of the outer world she has begun to delve within through personal and academic studies of yoga and mediation. Dedicated to a life of service she has incorporated these tools within alternative education and plans to complete her undergraduate education in said fields.
In addition to traveling, working with youth, and yoga, Julie has a deep love for nature, writing, family and friends. And while she typically feels more at home in a foreign culture than otherwise, she is extremely excited to grow some roots in a small island town that has been the home to many generations of her own family.
