The Island ACCESS Team is a group of Student Community Leaders committed to cultivating public–use resources and enacting positive community development.
Our Mission:
"The ACCESS Team seeks out opportunities and attempts new things to broaden the horizons of our community."
Leadership
By demonstrating the successes of a proactive approach, persistence, and clear vision, the ACCESS Team is at the head of a new movement in social responsibility among Vinalhaven's young people.
Civic Engagement
The ACCESS Team does not look for problems. We formulate and implement strategies for addressing unmet needs. We do not ask what the town can do for us, nor what we can do for the town. We ask, "What can we do together?"
The Voice of the Youth
Previous to the formation of the ACCESS Team, no direct communication line existed between the student body and Vinalhaven's adult leaders. ACCESS members act as diplomats and ambassadors across the generation gap.
